Ghost Pepper Wing Sauce Is Not For The Faint Hearted

If you are one of the people who enjoy spicy foods, there is now ghost pepper wing sauce to liven up your taste buds. Not only wings will benefit, but other dishes too. Yet it is slightly baffling as to why more people haven't heard about these chili peppers.

The main ingredient behind this new range of sauces is the ghost pepper, just as the name implies. At one point it was regarded as the most potent chili pepper naturally grown. It has it's roots in certain North Eastern states of India, but now it is grown in more locations as demand has grown.

It goes by different names depending on the growing region. For instance north of the Brahmaputra river it is known as Bhut Jolokia. Whereas to the south of the river it is known as Naga Jolokia. In the native Indian dialects of Assamese and Bengali, Jolokia is the basic name for the Capsicum pepper. Bhut is the word for ghost in these dialects.

When called the Naga Jolokia, this is paying tribute to the Naga tribe of warriors. These were fierce in battle, and so it was felt to be a fitting name, as it reflects the fiery nature of this sauce.

When discussing the heat of chilies many wonder about how such things are measured against other types. To enable each variety to be measured on the same scale something known as the Scoville scale was developed. It was named after it's founder, Wilbur Scoville. Way back in the early 1910's it relied upon a panel of five judges. They would undertake actual taste tests, involving sugar water and elements of the chilies. The element which gives the heat to chilies is known as capsaicin. Despite not being ideal it did produce consistent results in those early days.

Chilies can often be found in most kitchens. They are used in recipes nearly as often as salt. If you regard salsa as one of the most common condiments at an American meal, just consider the wide range of these salsa sauces that just your local grocery store holds. Many foreign recipes, and signature dishes, will also contain chilies, as they really are highly adaptable.

It has been put forward that these fiery chilies also contain potential health benefits. It all seems to revolve around this capsaicin, or the heating element. There have been some startling discoveries made during these clinical trials, that could possibly hold some agreement to these claims.

It is not always possible to claim that your favourite sauce could also be helping to keep you healthy. Many people indicate that the unique smell and taste of these chilies already give a couple of their senses a robust workout. However you choose to use this sauce, one thing that you can be sure of is that it is not some average condiment.

So for anyone who likes their wings to bite back, then ghost pepper wing sauce is the one for you. Keep it somewhere handy in your kitchen. It is versatile and can be used to liven up regular, boring meals.
